A versión 2 da General Public License (GPL), unha das máis usadas no software libre, era do 1991. A informática cambiou un chisco desde aquela, e cumpría adapta-la GPL ós novos tempos (e ás novas ameazas).

Un novo informe de Human Rights Watch fala de centos de execucións extraxudiciais impunes en Filipinas: “Scared Silent: Impunity for Extrajudicial Killings in the Philippines”. As víctimas son políticos da esquerda, membros de ONGs, xornalistas… Eis un extracto da introducción:
“[...] Rei-Mon Guran is just one case among hundreds of extrajudicial executions and failed prosecutions in the Philippines in recent years. This report, based on over 100 interviews and research that Human Rights Watch carried out in the Philippines between September and November 2006, documents the involvement of the armed forces in the killings of individuals because of their political activities. Witnesses and family members describe how members of left-wing political parties and non-governmental organizations, political journalists, outspoken clergy, anti-mining activists, and agricultural reform activists are being gunned down or “disappeared”, with their murders going unprosecuted.
The pattern of these unlawful killings suggests they are intended to eliminate suspected supporters of the NPA and its political wing, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), and to intimidate those who work for progressive causes certain critics in the government and armed forces consider linked to the insurgency. Human rights groups, local church leaders, and politicians have repeatedly raised concerns about the impact on civilians of a government policy of “all-out war” declared against the NPA in June 2006. Most of the victims of these political killings are members of legal political parties or organizations that the military claims are allied with the communist movement.
None of the incidents investigated by Human Rights Watch involved anyone who was participating in an armed encounter with the military or was otherwise involved in NPA military operations. Each victim appears to have been individually targeted for killing. [...]“
Eu son crente, pero penso que a relixión (segundo a súa etimoloxía latina re-ligare sería a nosa ligazón coa divinidade, e debería ser algo bastante íntimo e persoal) contamina en moitos lugares a vida pública. Hai exemplos abondo en Estados islámicos, pero tamén en Estados que en teoría dan liberdade de culto pero deixan que Igrexas cristiás impoñan a súa educación anticientífica, e mesmo dicten que conductas sexuais deben ser castigadas nos códigos penais (estou a pensar agora nos Estados Unidos).
O filósofo Bertrand Russell (1872 – 1970) escribira no 1952 un artigo “Is There a God?”, onde facía unha reductio ad absurdum arredor das ensinanzas das Igrexas. O argumento aquí empregado coñécese como “Russell’s teapot” ou “Celestial Teapot”. Eis un extracto:
“If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.”
Pois ben, hai unha páxina, por momentos brillante, dedicada a facer humor gráfico sobre a contradicción entre o dogmatismo desas Igrexas e o sentido común. For the first time, the German edition of the open Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia will be receiving state funding. Germany will be setting aside part of its budget to improve information about renewable resources in Wikipedia. [...]
The challenge will be to motivate experts who have done good work in other projects to get involved in the community lexicon. As project director Florian Gerlach told heise online, “Such expert reports are usually written, edited, and published in the normal newspapers or even on other websites. But Wikipedia is radically different: articles there continually grow with input from numerous authors, who often remain anonymous. The end product is constantly changing, and third parties can publish their own texts or even change yours.” The future authors will therefore receive some training to help them work with Wikipedia. [...] Irán se queda rezagado
Las ejecuciones de personas por delitos cometidos cuando eran menores de edad han desaparecido prácticamente en el resto del mundo. Gobiernos de todas las regiones han ratificado tratados internacionales que prohíben tales ejecuciones y han introducido reformas en sus respectivas legislaciones nacionales para hacer efectiva dicha prohibición.
1994: Yemen introdujo una modificación en el Código Penal por la que aumentaba la edad mínima para la imposición de la pena de muerte a 18 años en el momento de la comisión del delito; Zimbabue modificó de igual modo la Ley de Pruebas y Procedimiento Penal.
1997: China modificó su legislación penal con el fin de abolir la pena de muerte para personas declaradas culpables de delitos cometidos cuando eran menores de edad.
2005: Estados Unidos declaró ilegales las ejecuciones de personas menores de edad en el momento de la comisión del delito después de que la Corte Suprema de Justicia determinara en la causa Roper v Simmons que tales ejecuciones violaban la Constitución estadounidense.
Asimismo, Pakistán promulgó en 2000 la Ordenanza del Sistema de Justicia de Menores, que abolía la pena de muerte para personas menores de 18 años en el momento de la comisión del delito. El Tribunal Superior de Lahore declaró ilegal la Ordenanza en 2004, pero el Tribunal Supremo la reinstauró en 2005 en un fallo que ha sido recurrido. Entretanto, la Ordenanza sigue en vigor. [...]
