Women in Film

Gardado en: Johann Sebastian Bach, Music, String music, Violoncello, Visual arts — César Salgado @ 22:16

Hoxe presentamos outro vídeo de eggman913 (Philip Scott Johnson na vida real), o autor do exitoso vídeo Women in Art: 500 Years of Female Portraits in Western Art (catro millóns de “visionados” en dez semanas).

O vídeo titúlase Women in Film, e disque aparecen nel as caras das actrices abaixo relacionadas:

Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Gloria Swanson, Marlene Dietrich, Norma Shearer, Ruth Chatterton, Jean Harlow, Katharine Hepburn, Carole Lombard, Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, Barbara Stanwyck, Vivien Leigh, Greer Garson, Hedy Lamarr, Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney, Olivia de Havilland, Ingrid Bergman, Joan Crawford, Ginger Rogers, Loretta Young, Deborah Kerr, Judy Garland, Anne Baxter, Lauren Bacall, Susan Hayward, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Novak, Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge, Shirley MacLaine, Natalie Wood, Rita Moreno, Janet Leigh, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Ann Margret, Julie Andrews, Raquel Welch, Tuesday Weld, Jane Fonda, Julie Christie, Faye Dunaway, Catherine Deneuve, Jacqueline Bisset, Candice Bergen, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sigourney Weaver, Kathleen Turner, Holly Hunter, Jodie Foster, Angela Bassett, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Meg Ryan, Julia Roberts, Salma Hayek, Sandra Bullock, Julianne Moore, Diane Lane, Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry.

P.S. (7 – VII – 2007): esquecín facer mención á música. No vídeo Women in Art a música era a Sarabande da suite para violoncello so número 1 en “sol maior” (BWV 1007), tocada por Yo-Yo Ma. Pois no vídeo Women in Film a música é o primeiro movemento (Prélude) desa mesma suite.

Indonesia: HRW report on extrajudicial executions, torture, rape and impunity in Papua

Gardado en: Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, Indonesia, Politics — César Salgado @ 09:42

O informe está en inglés e titúlase “Out of Sight: Endemic Abuse and Impunity in Papua’s Central Highlands”. Copio e pego un extracto da introducción:

In the 14 incidents documented in this report—which include eight alleged killings, two rapes, and many cases of ill treatment and torture—at writing, only one member of the security forces had faced prosecution, and that was before a military court; a low ranking officer was sentenced to eight months in prison for killing a 16-year-old Papuan high school student. To our knowledge, no Brimob or regular police officers have been investigated or prosecuted for their role in the remaining seven killings. No officers have been charged in either of the two rape cases in which police were implicated. No officers have been charged in connection with the cases of alleged police ill-treatment we documented. This report thus documents what appears to be the near total absence of accountability for members of the security forces who commit abuses in the Central Highlands.

Turkey: AI report on torture, extrajudicial killings and impunity

Está en inglés e titúlase “Turkey: The Entrenched Culture of Impunity Must End”. Copio e pego un extracto da presentación:

The report’s main findings include:

  • Torture and ill-treatment, including during unofficial detention, during and after demonstrations, in prisons and during prisoner transfer.
  • Cases of ongoing trials in Turkey where statements allegedly extracted under torture constitute a central part of the evidence but where the court has ruled such evidence admissible.
  • The refusal of courts to recognize independent medical evidence in torture or other ill-treatment cases. The courts usually only accept evidence provided by the Forensic Medical Institute, which is institutionally bound to the Ministry of Justice.
  • The re-introduction of a controversial provision in the revised Law to Fight Terrorism which fails to make explicit that the use of force should be strictly necessary and proportionate and that the use of lethal force is only permissible when “strictly unavoidable to protect life”.
  • The lack of progress in investigating fatal shootings by security forces which were not part of an armed clash and which may amount to extrajudicial killings.

Christopher Simpson: Pavan from Suite in g minor

Thank you all for sharing culture!
