O informe leva por título “Europe: Discrimination against Roma”. Copio e pego un extracto:
Nearly 80 per cent of the total European Roma population of about 10 million live in European Union (EU) member and aspiring member states. The Roma population is the poorest and one of the fastest growing in the region, living predominantly on the margins of society. Roma are one of the largest ethnic minority groups in Europe.
The Roma community suffers massive discrimination in access to housing, employment and education. In some countries they are prevented from obtaining citizenship and personal documents required for social insurance, health care and other benefits. Roma are often victims of police ill-treatment and their complaints are seldom investigated. Frequently Romani children are unjustifiably placed in “special” schools where curtailed curricula limit their possibilities for fulfilling their potential. Romani children and women are among the communities most vulnerable to traffickers.
The Decade of Roma Inclusion, which started in 2005, aims to improve the social and economic status of Roma. The initiative of several countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia, and supported by the international community is implementing policy reforms and programmes designed to break the vicious cycle of poverty and exclusion.
Over the years Amnesty International has researched different aspects of discrimination against the Romani communities across Europe. The organization has recorded the following findings in 2006 and the first half of 2007:
Roma were often the victims of torture or other ill-treatment by law enforcement officers across the region. Roma were also often victims of racist attacks during which they were not adequately protected by the police. The authorities in many countries failed to fulfil their domestic and international obligations towards the Roma community. [...]

Grave Abuses in Ethnic Minority Areas Fuel Growing Humanitarian Crisis”. Copio e pego un extracto:
Burmese army attacks on ethnic minority villages have forcibly displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians in eastern Burma, creating dire humanitarian conditions, Human Rights Watch said today.
The Burmese army continues to destroy civilian villages in its counterinsurgency operations. It often uses depopulated areas for military-controlled business concessions and infrastructure projects such as gold mines and hydroelectric dams, three of which are planned close by on the Salween River, near the Thai border.
Human Rights Watch welcomed the release on October 19 of the 2007 annual internal displacement survey carried out by the nongovernmental Thailand Burma Border Consortium (TBBC) and its local partner organizations. The TBBC found that as of mid-2007 there were 503,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) in surveyed sites in eastern Burma. The report states that 99,000 IDPs were believed to be in hiding from Burmese army patrols, 109,000 were in military-controlled relocation sites, and 295,000 people were in areas controlled by armed groups with some ceasefire arrangements with the ruling State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). The TBBC surveyed IDPs in Tennasserim Division, Mon State, Karen State and Pegu Division, Karenni State and southeastern Shan State.
“As well as attacking monks and democracy protestors in Rangoon, Burma’s military junta is forcing ethnic minority villagers to flee their homes in the country’s border areas,” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “The international community must not ignore the dire humanitarian situation fueled by army abuses in rural Burma.” [...]

No comáis grasas animales.
No comáis grasas, ¡animales!
He visto aviones comer ciruelas pasas.
He visto hombres correr a cien por hora.
He visto coches en una cantimplora.
He visto agua paseando por la calle.
He visto gente pastando en aquel valle.
He visto vacas volando por el cielo.
He visto aves hacer casas de hielo.
He visto esquimales de siete colores.
He visto un arco iris de tres sabores.
He visto helados. Estas cosas yo he visto,
